I don’t get out to Queens as much as I used to, which is a real shame. It truly is the New York City borough with the best food, regardless of price point, flavor profile, etc.
And somewhere like Bierocracy reminded me of how much fun it is to hang out in Long Island City.
A large beer hall not too far from the Queensboro bridge, Bierocracy is great for groups, large and small, for a number of reasons. For one, it’s spacious. Secondly, you don’t need to worry about a reservation—even on a Saturday night.
There’s also a great beer (and wine!) list with plenty of food to order, too. Being a few drinks in on a bar crawl, my eyes immediately darted to anything involving the words “potatoes” and/or “fries.” (I will never change.)
Curiously, they had an item called “Czech poutine,” which we ended up ordering because why not? Covered in Jagerschnitzel sauce and melted cheese (but mostly cheese), they were more like disco fries than poutine, which is fine by me as I’m not a big fan of curds.
The serving was definitely an appetizer size, and between four people, it was not nearly enough. I’d order a bowl of these on my own next time. (I hope there is a next time!)
