Crossed another spot off the never-ending New York restaurant bucket list: this time, bagel brunch mecca Sadelle's.
It takes a combination of patience and working the OpenTable site to get a reservation here, but when you finally do, I'm happy (and relieved) to say it's actually worth it. The prices are a bit outrageous, so keep that in mind as a place for either a special brunch or when you want to impress out-of-towners.
The Everything 2.0 bagel really is scrumptious—with cream cheese, avocado, or even nothing at all. And the “healthy egg sandwich” does actually feel somewhat healthy—it’s not greasy and resembles something like an egg white omelette stuck inside a bagel. (Normally it’s challah bread, but you can request a bagel—which is a bit thinner—as I did.)
And then there's the French Toast, which I can't even accurately describe because I'm not sure we have words for it in English. It's almost as if you had the flavor of a cinnamon roll with texture of a macaroni & cheese casserole. But it truly works!
