In honor of Women’s History Month (March, ICYMI) and International Women’s Day coming up (March 8), Moët Hennessy recently hosted a tasting experience at La Mercerie in Soho, celebrating women winemakers.
Specifically, we tried bottles from Veuve Clicquot, Krug, Chandon, and Smoke Tree, paired with a delicious special menu from La Mercerie's incredible chef, Marie-Aude Rose.
Everything was delightful—but the real surprise was the Smoke Tree Skyside Red Blend 2017. Everyone was flabbergasted to discover it sells at less than $20/bottle—some of us (myself included) stated it was one of the best reds we've come across in awhile! Not an ad—just truly amazing and satisfying.
Fun fact for women's history in winemaking: "Veuve" in French translates to "widow" in English, thus you are just saying "The Widow Cliquot" when referring to the Champagne brand Veuve Cliquot. There's also an excellent biography of the same name. The more you know!
