Fever Tree Mixers was a sponsor of the event, thus, the cocktails on tap were all made with the brand's tonic water. The drinks were all made by local acclaimed bartenders. PUNCH’s Bartender in Residence All-Stars in attendance this year were:
Lauren Corriveau, Nitecap
Jelani Johnson, Clover Club
Orlando Franklin McCray, Blind Barber
Sarah Morrissey, White Horse Tavern
Highballs, in particular, seem to be everywhere this summer. Perhaps that’s because of the Spritz craze, which although it has existed for years, only picked up steam in the U.S. seemingly last summer. Or maybe the Highball is the American answer to the Italian Spritz.
Normally, I hate tonic water. It takes a lot to mask the bitter taste, at least for my palate. But I was pleasantly surprised by how great the cocktails were. This is not an ad, but it is a worthy endorsement of the lower ABV drinks trend.
My only regret was not bringing Dash, as The Springs has a great backyard and is very dog-friendly!
